Ted Weschler is an American investor who is currently a portfolio manager at Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate led by Warren Buffett. He joined Berkshire Hathaway in 2011 and is considered by many to be a potential successor to Buffett in managing the company's portfolio.
Weschler was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. After graduating, he worked in finance, including stints at accounting firm Arthur Andersen and hedge fund Peninsula Capital.
In 2000, Weschler founded his own hedge fund, Peninsula Capital Advisors LLC, which focused on long-term investments. The fund had a successful track record and was eventually acquired by fund management company Soros Fund Management.
Weschler is known for his philanthropic work, particularly in the field of education. He has donated millions of dollars to help improve the education system in Virginia and has served on the board of the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.
